Nineteen of Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been achieved on hardcourt
A resurgent Daniil Medvedev claimed his initial trophy for nearly 30 months with a win over Corentin Moutet in the competition championship match.
The Russian, a former top-ranked player, has had a torrid period, achieving just a single victory at the Grand Slams and experiencing a meltdown at the New York tournament.
Medvedev's varied form on the ATP Tour - and issues with his serve in specific - caused him dropping out of the top ten and ultimately splitting with former trainer Gilles Cervara.
Now training with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has gradually progressed in the recent weeks - peaking in a hard-fought three-set win over opponent Moutet.
It is the player's initial trophy following the Rome competition and first on a hardcourt after spring of 2023.
Success also means he has achieved twenty-one championships at twenty-one various tournaments.
"For the first time I am participating in a event with my two daughters simultaneously, so to win a title is especially meaningful," said ranked player Daniil Medvedev.
"This championship is in dedication of my child her name, because the initial championship I got when my older daughter Alisa was born was for her."
The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his last six title deciders, featuring in the German tournament in the past months.
Medvedev's counter-punching play style and regular outbursts on court had caused observers to doubt if his capacity to perform at the elite level was over.
Yet the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, striving to come to the net and compete assertively, supported by an better serve.
Medvedev fought back from a break down in the first set against the challenging opponent, winning four of the final five points to take the lead.
Both players exchanged break points in the middle set before the challenger, striving for his first ATP Tour victory, seized the initiative to push for a third set.
The opponent rescued four early-game opportunities in a close third set before Medvedev broke to fifteen to secure the win.
Fittingly, he earned the win with a point at the net area, with the Frenchman unable to control a volley after over two and a half hours.
